•ZIF-67 decorated on different magnetic supporting substrates were successfully fabricated.•MrGO/ZIF exhibited significantly higher adsorption capacity than MZIF.•ZIF-67 nanocrystals exhibited multidimensional uniform distribution in rGO.•The multiple adsorption mechanism of MAMP on MrGO/ZIF was further explored.
