Abstract
•A new method to reduce MIMS noise level, magnetic circuit differential, is proposed.•Common-mode magnetic noise is eliminated by MCD without sacrificing sensitivity.•Noise level of MIMS with MCD is only 10% of that of the conventional MIMS.•Detection limit of MIMS with MCD can reach 10-2 pT, which has a significant potential.
