Observation of structural change-driven Griffiths to non-Griffiths-like phase transformation in Pr2-xSrxCoFeO6 (x = 0 to 1)

摘要
•A Griffiths-like to non-Griffiths-like phase is evolved with increasing Sr doping in Pr2-xSrxCoFeO6 (x = 0 to 1).•A concomitant structural phase transition from orthorhombic Pnma to tetragonal I4/m is observed as the Sr concentration reaches beyond a critical value x ≥ 0.8.•Sr doping introduces competing local ferromagnetic exchange interactions, which ultimately lead to the breaking of the long-range magnetic ordering.•The observed structural phase transition accompanying with the breaking of long-range magnetic ordering seems to be the plausible origin of the Griffiths-like to non-Griffiths-like phase transformation.•The electronic structure has also been studied using the X-ray absorption spectroscopy measurements and Density function theory calculations.
