Formulation optimization and characterization of Pistacia atlantica Desf. essential oil-loaded nanostructured lipid carriers on the proliferation of human breast cancer cell line SKBR3 (in vitro studies)

•Pistacia atlantica essential oil was successfully loaded on nanostructured lipid carriers.•MTT assay showed that the optimized formulation was more cytotoxic to SKBR3 breast cancer cells.•Pistacia atlantica essential oil-loaded NLCs has the potential to be used in treatment of breast cancer.
