Topography is more important than forest type as a determinant for functional trait composition of Collembola community

•Selection by topography and forest type on Collembola community were examined.•Topography was important factor for species and functional trait composition.•Trait change was more pronounced than species change to topography.•Large Collembola individuals increased under dry sites.•Forest type and spatial components did not affect the trait compositions.
