摘要

•A sensitive discriminative radon and thoron detector is proposed.•The detector uses two DVDs fixed inside and outside a spindle for CDs/DVDs.•Experimental calibration and numerical modelling are made.•Levels of radon and thoron typical for outdoor air are measurable.
