Keratoconus: A Brief History

The recorded history of keratoconus spans almost 300 years, beginning with the first descriptions of conical cornea and evolving to a detailed description of the disease. Optical and surgical management of the disease evolved more slowly, culminating in a wide variety of choices for contemporary management of the disorder. Throughout the course of its clinical description, epidemiology, and therapeutic approaches, the pathogenesis of the disease remains unclear.
