Digitalization in Transport: An Example of Transport Documents

This chapter presents the impact of digitization of transport documents on the information-flow processes in the supply chain using the example of the GreenTransit system. The main research problem of the work was to determine the benefits and barriers of the implementation of digitization systems in logistics companies. The use of the GreenTransit system allows company owners to control their expenses. One of the barriers to the development of electronic transport documentation in Poland and the use of the GreenTransit system is the low level of innovation of enterprises. Polish entrepreneurs consider the implementation of innovations to be too capital-intensive and risky. Digitization facilitates the flow of information between entities participating in the performance of the contract. The use of an electronic consignment note also has a positive effect on the natural environment by reducing the consumption of paper and the emission of carbon dioxide generated during its production.
