Abstract
This abstract presents a collection of key aspects and results from part of the research project MethSys: Determination of the effects of renewable methane in transportation and energy system” financed by the German Ministry of Economy and Energy (BMWi). Focus is taken on presenting points regarding the technical and economical evaluation of the German electrical infrastructure for future development scenarios concentrating on the production of renewable methane. The objectives of this paper are to determine the approximate cost for the development of the electrical infrastructure, possible regions with higher potential for renewable methane, and possible synergies with power-to-gas (P2G) technologies.
