Abstract
•SnO2 nanoparticles were sensitive to sub-ppm ozone levels at room temperature under photoactivation.•The observed order of gas-sensing performance is UV > violet > blue.•Theoretical calculations showed that the (110) surface could increase the stability of photogenerated carriers enhancing the sensing performance•SnO2 nanoparticles can be used as promising light-assisted ozone gas sensors.
