•An efficient visible light-induced Fenton-like process was proposed.•Immobilized Fe species and IFCT effect jointly accelerate Fe(III)/Fe(II) cycle.•Achieving excellent degradation of phenol, hydroquinone and methyl orange.•Superior oxidizability originated from the production of •OH, •O2– and h+ species.
