Discussion on the ecological indicator system of Tongli New Energy Town in Suzhou

The ecological indicator system is the detailed description of the connotation of green ecological district (town). Under the background of comprehensive construction of characteristic town which is the special form of ecological district (town), the study on its ecological indicator system has significant practical significance. This paper analyzes the construction experience and indicator system of different scale ecological district (town) such as Wuxi Taihu New City, Shenzhen Guangming New District and Qingdao Sino-German Ecopark. The construction principles and ideas of indicator systems are summarized through the horizontal comparison from the aspects of development vision, construction goals and indicators distribution. Taking Tongli New Energy Town which is the permanent site of the International Forum on Energy Transitions as an example, the suggested framework and sub-indicators of ecological indicator system are proposed based on the development orientation of energy transition demonstration and local resource conditions. The safeguard measures and policy needs are refined from the perspective of institutional support, process management, capacity building and operation and maintenance management to ensure the effective implementation of indicator system.
