Comparative study of SOS & PSO for fuzzy based PID controller in AGC in an integrated power system

The proposed paper gives the idea of control technique of load frequency for multi-source three area power system based on multi PID structure. Each area having one thermal unit with reheat type turbine along with a Generation Rate Constraint (GRC). It uses fuzzy based PID controller for the respective three control areas. The performance of the proposed multi PID controller is checked by an objective function Integral of time multiplied with absolute error (ITAE) and then its performance of controller compared using PSO optimization techniques and SOS optimization techniques. From the analysis it is obtained that the robustness of proposed system is much better using Fuzzy PID controller with SOS as compared to the same with POS.
