Dezocine effectively alleviates the pain during topical 5-aminolaevulinic acid photodynamic therapy for condyloma acuminatum

•5-aminolevulinic acid mediated photodynamic therapy (ALA-PDT) is an effective treatment modality for condyloma acuminatum (CA), but pain is a major side-effect of this therapy.•Dezocine has been extensively used to relieve moderate to severe pain under varying conditions, but the effect of dezocine on pain during ALA-PDT has not been reported.•Dezocine obviously decreased the VAS pain scores of CA patients during ALA-PDT.•Dezocine significantly decreased the maximum pain during ALA-PDT.
