An application for wound diagnosis and treatment

The evaluation process and treatment of chronic wounds are major challenges for healthcare professionals, for public administration, because of the unpredictable cost increases, and for patients, whose lifestyle is compromised by pain, depression, and the inability to work. The visual aspect of the tissue in the wound bed reflects the healing phase and the possible occurrence of complications. Therefore, it is important that professionals involved in the treatment have skills in this type of assessment and description. This paper proposes a system to present a treatment recommendation suitable to the patient's wound using image detection and classification techniques. This recommendation system is developed using a convolutional neural network model (CNN) that allows classification of the main tissue present in the wound image taken by the application and provides the coverage options that best fit the context. The contribution of this paper is to collect machine learning approaches and techniques that allow the development of an effective wound care recommendation system.
