Bismuthyl Carbonate Heterostructures Are a Way to Enhance the Photocatalytic Activity of Alkaline-Earth Bismuthates

Abstract
The photocatalytic properties of heterostructures comprised of various strontium bismuthates and bismuthyl carbonate were studied. Enhanced photocatalytic activity was found in Sr x Bi y O z /(BiO) 2 CO 3 heterostructures for various strontium bismuthates. The enhanced photocatalytic activity in this type of heterostructure was found to arise from type II heterojunctions.
