Design and Numerical Simulation of New Type Drainage Gas Recovery Device

Liquid loading is one of the important reasons for the production decline or even shutdown of water-bearing gas wells. In the production process of gas wells, it is necessary to drain the bottom hole liquid loading to increase gas production. Aiming at the problem of liquid loading in gas wells, a new type of drainage gas recovery device that can form small waterspouts in the production string was designed by studying the formation mechanism of natural waterspout wind fields. Computational fluid dynamics software Fluent was used to compare and simulate the flow field of a gas well with a new type of drainage gas recovery device and conventional gas well. Numerical simulation results show that: Compared with conventional gas wells, gas wells equipped with new drainage gas recovery devices have formed apparent waterspout, and the gas-liquid mixture is separated. The greater the flow rate, the more significant the gas-liquid separation. When the liquid phase volume fraction increases, the device always has the effect of gas-liquid separation. The analysis of the pressure field shows that the gas well with the new drainage gas recovery device has a distinct low-pressure zone in the center of the flow field, and the wind field has a certain suction capacity for liquid loading. Under the same simulation conditions, the device significantly improves the drainage capacity of gas wells compared with conventional gas wells.
