Abstract
Star-shaped sets represent a large class of sets that contains compact and convex ones as a particular case. The center-radial characterization of these sets is very useful to identify their original shape. The complexity of these data lies in the fact that several aspects of the data are considered in a single representation. Since in some situations it may be very useful to identify groups of these sets, a fuzzy clustering method has been proposed. It is a generalization of the well-know fuzzy k-means that takes into account the nature of the data through an appropriate distance measure. The adequacy of the proposal has been checked by means of a real application on the clasts in the Cantabrian Coast.
