Abstract
•Facile synthesis of bimetallic Cu-Ni/amine -functionalized GO nanocomposites.•The optical direct bandgap of AGO-nanocomposites were found to be ∼5.1–5.6 eV.•The interaction between the metal oxide and GO was investigated by the DFT.•The metal oxides adsorbed on the GO surface showed most stable orientation.•AGO-Cu/Ni (1:0) showed the highest conductivity and superb efficiency.
