Abstract
In this article, we have demonstrated broadband terahertz cross-polarization conversion in a planar coupled metamaterial structure through simulation and experiments. The proposed metamaterial geometry contains a cut resonator and four split-ring resonators (SRRs) as a unit cell. The proposed metamaterial design is capable of showing maximum cross-polarization conversion of up to 39%. Broadband polarization conversion occurs in our metamaterial configuration due to the significant near-field coupling between the different resonant modes of the resonators. Our study could be used to construct broadband terahertz photonic devices.
