Spectro-temporal modulation glimpsing for speech intelligibility prediction

•STGI, defined as the proportion of the spectro-temporal modulation channels glimpsed, is highly correlated with the intelligibility of degraded/processed speech.•Time-frequency glimpsing and spectro-temporal modulation glimpsing succeeded in capturing the effect of SNR on speech intelligibility.•Spectro-temporal modulation glimpsing showed superior performance in capturing the effect of masker type on speech intelligibility.
