A Lens Antenna Design for In-Cabin Detection

Abstract
This paper presents a millimeter-wave (MMW) lens antenna for cabin detection with an operating bandwidth of 60 GHz to 64 GHz. Based on the principle of path compensation, the beam of the antenna can be adjusted by loading a lens above the antenna. This can make the antenna gain of different angles in the cabin balanced, which can increase the stability of in-cabin people detection, especially the stability of multi-people detection. At the same time, it attenuates the reflection of the target outside the cabin and reduces the interference. Simulation results show that the method can achieve beam adjustment within a beamwidth of ±50°.
