摘要
The competency-based people management model was established in the Federal Public Administration through Decree No. 5,707/2006, currently in effect through Decree No. 9,991/2019. As members of the Public Administration, federal universities must annually assess the adequacy of the staff to their needs, proposing to the Ministry of Education, if necessary, the resizing. Executive Assistant can compose the staff of universities since it integrates the positions of Technical-Administrative Servers in Education. This article, which derives from a master's thesis in university administration, aimed to analyze the executive assistant's staff suited to the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC)'s needs in the context of competency management. The research included data collection in documents, questionnaires, and semi-structured interviews with a predominantly qualitative approach. The results, obtained from content analysis, pointed out as opportune the adoption of competency management in the Institution since it developed the personnel planning based on the demands presented by the units. As a matter of priority, executive assistants must be allocated in sectors considered 'key units' relevant to increasing the number of executive assistants at UFSC. Given the findings and what recommends competency management, the study proposes actions to improve the management of executive assistants, considering facts such as the inhibition of public examinations and position filling and the creation of a workforce dimensioning commission at the Institution.
