Easy Way for Fabricating Calcium Carbonate Hybrid Microparticles-Supported Carrier: Focus on the Loading of Several Hydrosoluble Cargos All at Once

Abstract
Therapeutic benefit of hydrophilic drugs is unfortunately highly restricted due to their rapid clearance from the local site of administration or systemic circulation. To tackle this problem, pharmacokinetics and biodistribution can be enhanced by encapsulating them in suitable drug delivery systems. Nevertheless, their high water solubility and low molecular weight make difficult to entrap them in drug delivery systems. In this sense, we propose an approach for loading one and even several hydrosoluble cargoes all at once inside particles. Rhodamine b, dextran blue and methylene blue have been selected as model of hydrophilic cargoes and calcium carbonate particles have been chosen. The as-obtained particles are stable in physiological media (pH 7.4, 0.15 M of NaCl). A selective release of these probes is showed in acidic media (pH lower than 5). We also take advantage of the negatively charged surfaces of calcium carbonate particles for modifying the particles surfaces with biopolymers, i.e. polysaccharides diethylaminoethyl-dextran.
