EEPNet: An efficient and effective convolutional neural network for palmprint recognition

•We propose a lightweight neural network called EEPNet for palmprint recognition.•We add five effective strategies to EEPNet to improve its recognition performance.•We evaluate the proposed method by conducting thorough experiments on seven palmprint databases.
