Intimate and political plot in the articulation of alternative masculinities

Derived from the reflections and theoretical advances of feminism, the question of masculinities has acquired great relevance in the field of social sciences as an object of inquiry and intervention. Parallel to this process, the creation and action of men's groups that actively propose a deconstruction of hegemonic masculinity and the eradication of gender gaps have been proliferating. This paper analyzes the narrative of men who participate in antipatriarchal groups. The results show the structural elements that make up the stories and two plots that articulate the stories. These are the intimate and political plot. It is concluded that in the process of transformation of masculinity not only a process of subjective transformation is involved, but also a critique of social and political contexts intersects with the question of gender identities.
