摘要
Background Synchronous occurrence of different ovarian neoplasms (involving bilateral ovaries or same ovary) is known to occur, albeit uncommonly. However, simultaneous occurrence of metastatic tumor within a benign primary ovarian tumor has never been described up to the best of our knowledge. Case We report an intriguing case of a 56-year-old female who presented with right abdominal pain and lump in the lower abdomen for the past 4–5 months. Results Histopathological examination revealed the coexistence of serous cystadenoma of ovary along with an intratumoral metastatic focus (Krukenberg tumor) from an unknown primary. Conclusion The unique occurrence of Krukenberg tumor within serous cystadenoma highlights the importance of proper sampling of ovarian specimen even when it was clinically and macroscopically thought to be benign.
