Deep eutectic solvents-based headspace single-drop microextraction for the chromatographic determination of phenols and aliphatic alcohols in atmospheric air

•For the first time, the separation of analytes from atmospheric air into a drop of an extractant has been implemented.•For the first time, an environmentally friendly deep eutectic solvent based on natural terpenoids was used in single drop microextraction.•Distribution coefficients for two classes of analytes in the air/DES system were determined for the first time.•A simple procedure has been developed to determine VOCs in air.
