Single-shot time-of-flight ranging with sub-wavelength accuracy using vortex beam

•Time-of-Flight is transformed into the rotation of the light field by vortex beams.•Improving ranging accuracy without the expense of degradation in ranging speed.•Ranging accuracy down to 53 nanometers at acquisition times of 1 nanoseconds.
