Magnesium dopped Calcium-Fluoride/Icaritin composite multi-layer coating functionalized 3D printed β-TCP scaffold induces sustained bone regeneration in a rabbit model

摘要
•A 3D printed β-TCP scaffold was fabricated with suitable space construction and cancellous bone-like mechanical properties.•Inspired by layer-by-layer plasma coating technology, inner ICT nanofilm and outer Magnesium dopped Calcium-Fluoride nanofilm were deposited on scaffold.•Icaritin nanofilm enhanced bone regeneration while outer Mg-CaF nanofilm helped the persistently sustained release of inner Icaritin during the bone repair period.•The degradation of Mg-CaF nanofilm accompanied by diffusion of Mg ions and F ions also contributes to osteogenesis.
