摘要
In collaboration with Czech National Radiation Protection Institute (SÚRO), Crytur has developed a pen-like wearable device for detection and identification of radioactive contamination on skin wounds in nuclear medicine. This detector is based on a Crytur-grown YAP:Ce scintillator, which combines excellent energy proportionality and resolution with high detection efficiency to enable detection [1],[2],[3], localization and identification of the low energy gamma-ray emission from actinides used in nuclear medicine. Two prototypes have been built and tested by acquiring and analyzing the spectrum emitted by a pair of 210 Pb and 241 Am sources where the 46.5 keV and 59.6 keV lines can be clearly separated and identified. The detector construction and evaluation for the nuclear medicine purposes is discussed below.
