Role of TLR2/MyD88 in the production of specific IgM and IgG antibodies during the immunization of mice against Neospora caninum

•Mice deficient in genes related to the TLR2/MyD88 pathway present significant changes in antibody production against Neospora caninum antigens.•The absence of iNOS severely impaired the concentration of antigen-specific IgM and IgG2.•TLR2 contributes to the production of IgM and IgG1 against N. caninum.•Concentration of Neospora-specific IgM antibodies quickly decayed in Il12b-/- immunized mice.•MyD88 is critical for anti-Neospora IgG2 production and antigen recognition.
