•The study evaluates OFC prevalence rate trends in TN from 2000 to 2007 to 2008–2017.•Cleft lip±palate (CL ± P) prevalence decreased in TN over the past two decades.•A positive correlation in birth rates of CL ± P and higher white population regions.•A negative correlation in birth rates of CP and higher median household income.
