Abstract
•A ratiometric detection of Polymyxin B (PMB) was developed based on a pyrenyl probe.•Rapid sensing of PMB was achieved in 100 % aqueous media with LOD of 28.3 nmol/L.•It exhibited good specificity and anti-interference ability.•Monitoring PMB concentrations is also confirmed in real samples.•The disaggregation of pyrenyl nanoassemblies was accounted for the sensing mechanism.
