Intestinal absorptivity-increasing effects of sodium N-[8-(2-hydroxybenzoyl)amino]-caprylate on food-derived bioactive peptide

•Peptide PW5 was a good candidate to explore absorption enhancement effects of SNAC.•Turbidity analysis revealed the optimal ratio of PW5-SNAC complex to be 1 : 1.•SNAC was associated with efficient absorption of PW5 in a non-everted gut sac model.•PW5-SNAC binding behavior was characterized using distinct physicochemical property.•SNAC bound to the PW5 internal cavity, as determined using molecular docking stimulation.
