P35-1 Erectile dysfunction in patients with metastatic prostate cancer treated with androgen-deprivation therapy

Sexual function is affected by treatment for both localized and advanced prostate cancer (PC). Erectile dysfunction (ED) has been studied in localized PC but rarely in advanced or metastatic disease. This study aimed to establish the prevalence of ED in patients with metastatic PC treated with androgen-deprivation therapy (ADT), and to determine the differences in the severity of ED in patients who have received different ADT: bilateral orchiectomy, hormonal therapy, androgen inhibitor, or their combination. This study also aimed to determine the association between the severity of ED and the patients‘ age, duration of cancer (time since diagnosis), TNM stage, Gleason score, serum prostate specific antigen (PSA) level at time of diagnosis, latest PSA level, and time since initiation of treatment. This was a cross-sectional study involving adult patients diagnosed with metastatic PC who received ADT at the out-patient clinics of the Philippine General Hospital. Participants were asked to complete the 6-item erectile function domain of the International Index of Erectile Function (IIEF) questionnaire. Additional information about the participants were gathered from their records. Data was analyzed for any association between the total IIEF score and the severity of ED, and the patient characteristics. There was a high prevalence of ED among the 56 patients included in this study regardless of the treatment modality used. Only one patient (1.79%) has no ED while 47 patients (83.93%) have severe ED, with a condition burden around 71.67 to 92.38%. There was no observed association between the severity of ED and the patients‘ clinical and demographic characteristics. There was a high prevalence of ED among patients with metastatic PC who received ADT in this study, regardless of the treatment modality used. However, there was no association between the severity of ED and the patients‘ clinical and demographic characteristics.
