摘要
Present study was carried out with the physical environmental characteristics in relation to chlorophyll a (chl a) and major nutrients variability in the north-eastern coast of Bay of Bengal (BoB).The area was found with a deep Isothermal Layer Depth (ILD) ranging from 12m up to 60m depth and a shallow Mixed Layer of 3m to 25m deep. In the north-eastern bay, however was occupied with a thick Barrier Layer (BL) varied from 2m to 45m thick. Barrier layer formation was thick in the southward coast rather than the northward coast of the BoB. Fluorescence value was higher below the Mixed Layer Depth (MLD) and the peak value measured near the coast 25.16 mgm-3, where lowest value was 0.01 mgm-3. The area was characterized with a high turbid water near the coast. Turbidity value reached up to 962.2 NTU and the lowest value measured 0.19 NTU. Almost entire area covered with low chl a concentration varied from 0 mgm-3 to 3.33 mgm-3, phaeopigment was 1.07 - 5.95 mgm-3 and the contrasting feature is that the region was rich in major nutrients concentration.
