Assessment of narrow-band and full spectrum gas radiation methods in a real industrial glass furnace configuration

•Radiative heat transfer in glass furnaces is considered.•Several approximate models of flame radiation are assessed against LBL calculations in a realistic industrial configuration.•Among narrow band models, the L-distribution approach is the most accurate.•The RC-SLW model provides a high accuracy and can be confidently used for radiative transfer calculations in 3D high temperature configurations.
