•A 3D discrete fracture network model was established based on fracture information obtained from Guide Basin.•Hydraulic properties of the Guide geothermal reservoir were analyzed based on a DFN model.•Heat production characteristics of the Guide Basin were studied considering heterogeneity and anisotropy of the reservoir.
