Abstract
Leachate landfill treatment has been studied using the combination of electroflotation and bio-coagulant (EB) with Tamarind seed (Tamarindus indica) by varying doses of 0.025, 0.05, 0.1, 0.15, 0.2 g/500 mL. The electroflotation was performed by stainless steel as cathode and titanium as anode electrode at a DC constant voltage of 40V for 30 minutes. The effectiveness of the EB process was evaluated by the decreasing of total dissolved solids (TDS), electrical conductivity (EC), turbidity, and the increase of dissolved oxygen (DO). The initially diluted leachate (20×) has a TDS, EC, turbidity, and DO for 719 mg/L, 1.0 mS/cm, 2.97 NTU, and 2.3 mg/L, respectively. The optimum results obtained from the EB process had similar parameter value of 584 mg/L (18.77%), 0.84 mS/cm (16%), 0.15 NTU (94.95%), and 3.8 mg/L (65.13%) respectively with a dose of 0.05 g/500 mL. It is concluded that the EB process for leachate landfills could reduce the effluent parameter.
