摘要
This paper presents the results of experiments on the TITAN facility to assess the quality of neutron imaging. A set of references samples developed by the Paul Scherrer Institute with the support of the IAEA was used. The results obtained demonstrated that the spatial resolution of the facility is 239 mu m for radiography and 358 mu m for tomography. The linear attenuation coefficients were determined for six materials. The maximum difference between the experimental values and the theoretical ones was 38%. The difference between the linear attenuation coefficients of neutron radiation from theoretical values is associated with the spectral dependence, due mainly to scattering and beam hardening that leads to deviation of the linear attenuation coefficient from the Beer-Lambert law. Tomography images were demonstrated that individual copper balls larger than 0.8 mm in diameter can be clearly recognized in a vial filled with balls.
