The Degree of Using Social Media Sites and its Relationship to Self-Concept and Happiness among University Youth

Abstract
The study aims to investigate the degree of using social media sites, and the most common level of self-concept, happiness and the relationship between them among university youth at the University of Jordan, and to identify the differences in the levels of both the degree of social media usage, self-concept and happiness according to gender (male, female), and college (Humane, scientific, health). The study sample consisted of (500) young university students. (163 males, 337 females), and (246 humanitarian colleges, 137 scientific colleges, 117 health colleges) of undergraduate students, and they were chosen by the stratified random method. And to achieve the objectives of the study were developed three measures, the measure of the degree of use of social networking sites, happiness scale, and self-concept scale. The results of the study showed that the most widely used social media networking site is Facebook and that the degree of social media use was moderate, and that the level of self-concept and happiness was high, and that there was a direct relationship between the degree of social media use, self-concept and happiness, and the results also showed statistically significant differences in the level of the degree of social media use, self-concept and happiness among students at the University of Jordan attributable to gender in favor of males, and the presence of statistically significant differences in the level of the degree of social media use, self-concept and happiness among all levels of the college variable, in favor of scientific, health, humanitarian.
