Research on LC series resonant high voltage capacitor charging power supply

For the pulse power system using capacitor as energy storage unit, the performance of capacitor charging power supply (CCPS) determines the stability of output voltage. With the rapid progress of high-frequency and high-power devices, high-frequency converter charging power has become the mainstream. Among them, the LC series resonant converter is an ideal charging power topology due to its excellent anti-short-circuit ability, constant current characteristics and soft switching. In this paper, the working characteristics of the LC series resonant converter are studied. Based on a CCPS with charging voltage of 10kV and charging capacity of 25kVA, a constant current-constant power charging control strategy is designed to improve the charging speed of CCPS. Simulation results show that this strategy reduces the charging time by 37.5% compared with the traditional constant current control strategy. At the same time, the influence of the stray capacitance of the transformer on the LC series resonant converter under the high voltage and high power situation is analyzed.
