Investigation on the Timing of Demagnetization for Variable Flux Memory Motor

The timing of demagnetization for variable flux memory motor (VFMM) and the corresponding performance are investigated under load operation. A demagnetization grid is proposed based on the torque-speed curves under different magnetization states. A look up table is then used to determine the best timing of demagnetization for VFMM. The performance of proposed demagnetization process is simulated for a dual layer hybrid magnet memory motor. The simulation results verify that the proposed method shows better performance on the demagnetization grid.
