Experiment and modeling of static layer melt crystallization in a crystallizer with an inner cooling tube

•Static layer melt crystallization with an inner cooling tube was studied.•An effective driving force for crystal layer growth was proposed and validated.•Reducing both jacket & coolant temperatures accelerated crystal layer growth.•Ion distribution coefficients of phosphoric acid were got with this crystallizer.
