FACTORS RELATED TO SELF-MEDICATION IN HEALTH SCIENCES STUDENTS.

The aim of this study was to determine the factors related to self-medication in students of the Faculty of Health Sciences of the Universidad Catolica Los Angeles de Chimbote, from September to November 2021. A descriptive observational, cross-sectional, cross-sectional, and correlational design study was carried out on 388 students and an online instrument was applied. Chi-square, Odds Ratio, 95% CI analyzed in SPSS v25 were used. In the results, 77.8% self-medicate, cultural factors are significantly related to self-medication, according to the professional school to which they belong; where they go if they present symptoms of illness; recommendation for the use of medications; demographic, economic and social factors do not have a significant relationship. The frequency of self-medication is every 2 to 4 months (75.5%), as pain is frequent (50.7%); anti-flu drugs (33.8%) and they do not have time to go to the doctor (43.7%). It is concluded that cultural factors have a significant relationship with self-medication.
