Tonian and Cryogenian – Early Cambrian sedimentation in NW India: Implications on the transition from Rodinia to Gondwana

•The ∼ 760 Ma Punagarh/Sindreth groups were deposited in a back-arc basin;•The Punagarh and Sindreth basins were adjacent to the continent and arc, respectively;•The Punagarh/Sindreth groups correspond to subduction associated with Rodinia breakup;•The Marwar Supergroup was deposited in a passive continental margin setting;•The Marwar Supergroup indicates a remnant ocean during Gondwana assembly.
