Abstract
The unique interfacial phases of SiCp/Al greatly influence the mechanical properties and cutting properties. By combining finite element simulation with experimental observation and characterization, the influence of interface on Machinability of material in micro-milling process was studied, and the influence of different interface phase models on cutting simulation was revealed. By comparing the micro-milling of SiCp/Al with the experiment data, it is found that the cohesive model can well describe the interfacial phases of materials. Based on the three-phase cutting model, the cutting force and surface morphology were accurately predicted, and the interaction between tool and matrix phase, particle reinforcement phase and interface phase during cutting was studied.
