Evaluation of a Standardized Questionnaire for Analgesia Treatment of Patient Satisfaction after Application of an Analgesia Procedure by Paramedics

Background A first patient survey on patient satisfaction following analgesia treatment in the Rettungsdienst-Kooperation (RKiSH) gGmbH, was conducted in 2018 and 2019. Postapplication evaluation of a prehospital analgesia concept applied by emergency services personnel led to the finding that medication has no significant influence on patient satisfaction.The focus shall here be on further development of the questionnaire and its usability. Method The survey results were tested by factor analyses and reliability analyses, and it was psychometrically tested whether and how the individual quality indicators of the original questionnaire can be summarised in superordinate scales/dimensions. Results 363 patients anonymoiusly returned a valid questionnaire (820 were contacted, return rate 44.3 %). The scales Pain Treatment, Personnel, Waiting Time, and Drug Tolerance were formed. Individual questions that could not be assigned were removed. Conclusion Patient satisfactioin was determined by a psychometrically tested questionnaire. Therefore an improved questionnaire is now available which was analysed and psychometrically tested with the help of factor analyses and reliability analyses and can also be used in other emergency services.
