Abstract
•LDHC with novel brick structure was prepared by using lignin as feedstock.•The relationship of LDHC material structure and carbonization temperature was studied.•The storage mechanism of Na+ in LDHC were verified.•LDHC exhibits outstanding cycling stability with specific capacity being 303 mA h g−1.•LDHC-1600 exhibits high initial coulombic efficiency (81.2 %) and excellent specific capacity (226.5 mA h g−1) at low potential plateau.
